Rajagopal, Mr. Channapatna A. (Raju)

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Channapatna A. Rajagopal while surrounded by his loving family; on Sunday, May 1, 2016.  Beloved husband to Ranjana for 50 years.  Loving father to Pavan (Sobana), Pavithra and Pravin (Vidya).  Cherished grandfather to Abigail, Olivia, Aryan, Ezra, and Arjun and missed by special little buddy “Squeaky”.   Dear brother to C.A. Ramadevi, late C.A. Shamsunder (Rukmini), C.A. Vaman Murthy (Shanthi), Malathi (Madhava Rao), late Vatsala (K.V. Murthy), Jayanthi (Bill), Swarna (Srinivas) and Pushpa (Sreepad Rao).

Rajagopal (Raju) was a modest and hard working man whose great attention to detail helped pave a successful career as a systems analyst.  His true love however, was for his wife and close-knit family and although he never liked a fuss made over him, we are grateful to have been able to spend his 82nd birthday with him, just two days prior to his passing.  He will be dearly missed by many friends and family.

A Hindu last rites ceremony, visitation and service followed by cremation will take place at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery Chapel (737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, Ontario) on Monday, May 9, 2016. Hindu last rites ceremony will commence at 10:00 a.m., friends and family are welcome to attend, visitation and service will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) would be appreciated by the family.

Our deepest condolences on Rajagopal Uncle’s passing. We can only imagine how difficult this is for Ranjana Aunty, Pavan, Pavithra, Pravin, and the family. Words cannot express the warmth and kindness that Rajagopal Uncle showed me and my family for over 35 years. I will always remember him as fun-loving and full of life. He was always happy to see us, and we always had a wonderful time with him. In fact, we were just talking about Uncle’s 82nd birthday when we heard the sad news of his passing. May he rest in peace. We will remember Uncle often and with great affection.

Angela and I would like to express our condolences to Mrs. Rajagopal, the sons and daughter and grand children and the many siblings. I have had the pleasure of meeting him only once during a week-end at Bill’s and Jayanti’s cottage. Found him to be a man of humour and grace, despite his poor health. He will indeed be missed.

I and Komala are very much saddened to hear of the demise of Rajagopal.l As I had observed, Rajagopal possessed keen intellect reinforced by a streak of independent thinking. Rajagopal was a man of indomitable spirit to face any adversity without feeling bitter. May Lord give Ranjana the fortitude to bear the loss of her 50 years partner.. Out heartfelt condolences to the family.for
I pray for Rajagopal’s soul to rest peacefully.

We are deeply saddned by the passing away of our dear friend Rajagopal. We recall having met Ranjana and Rajagopal at a grocery store called”Peirrie’s Dixiland” in the early 1980’s. We introduced ourselves and found out that we were from Bangalore and that our families knew each other.
I(Prahlad) recall having played Golf with Rajagopal and Pavan at a golf course called Tam O’Shatner” in Scarborough.Rajagopal was a good golfer and played well. I also recall the Dosa Parties which were hosted by Ranjana and Rajagopal at their McNicoll home.Rajagopal was a good cook as well!
Vivid in my memory is the combined birthday party hosted by Vijaya & Kumar in 2006 at their house in Toronto. Our birthdays were celebrated along with that of Shardha Nagaraj and Kumar’s mother.

Time passes faster than we can imagine!! Rajagopal will now rest in peace.
Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family!!

Dear Raju will always live in our hearts as a uncle of great warmth and love with always a smile and words of reassurance for every occasion. My earliest memories of him date back to the late 1950s and early 1960s and when he lived in Bombay. to his wedding to Ranjana whose sister Saroja was my teacher in East West School, to his move to Canada and to my many meetings with him and his lovely family in this part of the world. Raju was ever an optimist, never shying from taking risks – he transplanted a growing family from India to Canada in early middle age when the rest of the world was resting on their achievements. He switched fields from his training in Textiles to computers and systems analysis. He was a computer analyst and EDP Manager in Raymond’s in Bombay long before it became cool! My parents had a deep attachment to him, and he reciprocated the same feelings – always making it a point to visit them in Bangalore on his very short trips to India.

Malathi and I express our condolences to his grieving wife and children and their spouses and all the children who called him grandpa. Their loss is also a loss to all of us. Our condolences also to the brothers and sisters of Raju – the people we have loved and cherished all these years. For all off you who have lost much, the loss of another respected elder brother is a hard one to take.
