Shorey

January 4, 1935 – May 25, 2016

With his loving wife Carole, his children Lyn, Neil and Sandra by his side on May 25, 2016, at home.

Devoted and Loving Father, dearly missed by many family, friends, neighbours, and his beloved cat Wembley.

Gordon was an employee of Tonolli Metals with 48 years of service, and only two sick days in all that time.

He began in Accounting and moved over time into Sales, where he helped secure the largest account in the history of the company with General Motors.

He was married to his wife Carole Anne Shorey for 55 years.

An avid player of sports in his younger years, he once played for 3 hockey teams at one time, including the Midtown Toronto Aces and Witchwood Ponds. He also was a shortstop for his baseball team and umpired at Christie Pits in Toronto.

A lifelong coach of amateur sports including soccer, hockey and Women’s REP baseball, travelling across Canada for tournaments.

He coached all three of his children in his sports career.

President of Cawthra Park Hockey Association for two years.

In charge of Sponsorship for 84 teams for Cawthra Park Baseball Association for ten years.

Awarded the “Outstanding Contribution to Community Sport in Mississauga” in 1991.

In retirement Gordon helped his daughters in administrative duties with Creative Edge Painting.
